About Davin
A native of West Liberty, Dr. Barnett always knew he wanted to come home to practice medicine.
“This is my home. This is where my wife and I have always wanted to raise our children and be able to give back to our community,” he said.
Dr. Barnett and his wife, Kaylyn, have two beautiful children, Arlie Grace and Luca James.
A graduate of Morehead State University, Dr. Barnett went on to earn his medical degree from the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of Pikeville in 2018 and completed his emergency medicine residency at Ohio Health in Columbus, Ohio.
According to Dr. Barnett, it’s the impact one person can have on the lives of so many that drew him to medicine.
“When my father was in his late 20s he fell off a barn while putting a new roof on it. Initially, they didn’t think he would survive his injuries. If he did, they believed he would never walk, talk, eat, or do anything for himself again. Today, my dad is very much a productive member of society because an emergency physician in a small rural hospital saved his life and I’m so very thankful for that,” said Dr. Barnett. “The fact that one person changed our lives so dramatically by saving my father, that’s what drew me into medicine … to help people and hopefully improve their quality of life.”
Dr. Barnett finds emergency medicine to be a very interesting and unique niche.
“We typically don’t know our patients when they come in,” he said. “For me, being able to quickly relate to someone and be able to identify their problem and hopefully find a solution that will improve their quality of life … that’s what I find rewarding.”
