About James

I began my career in healthcare as a respiratory therapist. I worked at the University of Texas Medical Branch for over 15 years, where I became the coordinator for ECMO services.

After medical school, I moved to Kentucky to complete my residency at the University of Kentucky. While there, I studied a wide variety of surgical specialties, including general, vascular, emergency, trauma and more. This all-encompassing type of training prepared me to become a part of the SCH general surgeon team, where patients require a surgeon with a variety of skills.

I couldn't imagine another place I'd want to practice. I hope to make St. Claire my home forever. It's not only the people here that make this hospital great—it's the patients!

I and my wife, Kristi, a certified registered nurse anesthetist, live in Morehead with our four wonderful children.
