The St. Claire Foundation has received a gift of more than $76,500 from the estate of the father of a longtime UK St. Claire physician and administrator to benefit SCH’s family medicine locations.
Henry Humkey, the father of Mary Jane Humkey, MD, coordinated the gift through a charitable remainder trust. Mr. Humkey passed away last December in his hometown of Peoria, IL. He was 92 years old.
“My father had a strong value system, and one of the things he taught us was the importance of giving to those in need, which he did by giving of self, sharing knowledge and donating monetarily,” said Dr. Humkey. “In giving this gift to the family medicine clinics, he is helping support this service to others embodied by the mission of UK St. Claire.”
Dr. Humkey joined the St. Claire staff in August 1985 and has worked as a medical provider and a family medicine administrator.
News of Mr. Humkey’s gift came as a pleasant surprise to the SCH family medicine staff. “We are humbled and thankful for this very generous donation from the Humkey family,” said Dreama Perkins, SCH administrative director of primary care. “The contribution will be used to support and expand upon the services offered in our family medicine locations. We truly appreciate Mr. Humkey’s unwavering support of our mission and services.”
UK St. Claire operates family medicine locations in five counties: Bath, Carter, Elliott, Menifee and Rowan.
