UK St. Claire (SCH) is excited to announce Teretha Johnson, BSN, RN, has accepted the role of manager of SCH’s new Urgent Care Center.
The Urgent Care Center, set to open late February, will provide patients with easy access to quality, walk-in care. It will be temporarily located at the SCH Outpatient Center at 1028 E. Main St. (just off US 60 East).
“Urgent care offers a level of care that would be between a visit with your primary care provider and a visit to the emergency department (ED),” says Johnson. “If you were to fall and sprain your arm, a trip to the Urgent Care Center could be all you need to get proper care and get on the road to recovery quickly.”
As a Morehead State University graduate of nursing school and certified emergency nurse, Johnson brings years of experience to her new role. She has served over 7 years at SCH in the ED, holding coordinator and management positions throughout most of her career. She and her team are excited to take on the challenge of bringing urgent care to the Morehead area.
“In the ED, you see all kinds of health issues, many that could be treated in an urgent setting rather than an emergent setting,” says Johnson. “Bringing urgent care to Morehead means that patients with those needs will get the care they need and patients with emergent needs will get the care they need – all in a timely manner.”
As the manager of the Urgent Care Center, Johnson will oversee and lead urgent care staff and work closely with providers to ensure quick, quality care for patients.
“This Urgent Care Center is going to be something SCH has never offered before and we are very excited for the plans that are in store for this new level of care,” says Johnson. “SCH has always prioritized our patients’ needs. Investing in this just proves that even further.”
