UK St. Claire Family Medicine Physician, Selena Raines, DO, has been selected as a 2022 Kentucky State Emerging Leader by the American Osteopathic Foundation! This level of recognition is awarded to osteopathic physicians that consistently go above and beyond in their osteopathic careers.
Each year this recognition is given to ten individuals from associated states that prove to make a difference in healthcare modalities, treatment, and policy, while improving patient lives and outcomes through direct patient-centered care. The individual chosen strives to promote osteopathic medicine and its philosophy as they serve as a role model and leader who uses skills to better the profession.
“I have been actively involved with osteopathic medicine associations since being in residency. I enjoy my profession and want to pour the knowledge I have been able to learn and gather over the years into others,” said Dr. Raines. “Being chosen as the State Emerging Leader is truly an honor.”
Dr. Raines serves as the secretary and member of the Board of Trustees for the Kentucky Osteopathic Medical Association (KOMA). She also holds the chair of the American Osteopathic Association’s (AOA) Bureau of Emerging Leaders and is the New Physician in Practice member of the AOA’s Board of Trustees. She continues to support the University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine by serving as clinical faculty for third and fourth-year medical students. This high level of involvement makes her the perfect candidate for the recognition given by the American Osteopathic Foundation.
“It is my pleasure to serve as an advocate for the osteopathic profession that has offered me many opportunities over the years,” said Dr. Raines. “I choose to stay active, not only to give back to the profession, but to exemplify osteopathic distinctiveness to osteopathic students, residents and physicians.”
Dr. Raines offers care for her patients at UK St. Claire – Morehead, Downtown. The Morehead, Downtown team offers annual check-ups, immunizations, minor surgical procedures, as well as Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy (OMT), and more.
