UK St. Claire is proud to welcome family medicine physician Alyssa Black, DO, to its growing medical staff. Dr. Black will be joining the providers at the SCH primary care clinic in Olive Hill and is now seeing and accepting new patients.
“I get to walk with my patients through every step of their journey and we work together to identify goals and a plan that works best for them,” said Dr. Black. “We navigate challenges and tough times together, and we get to celebrate those victories when they happen. You really get to know your patients along the way.”
A native of Carter City, Dr. Black graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in neuroscience in 2015. She continued her medical education at the University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine, completing her rotations at SCH through the Northeast KY AHEC program, and graduating in 2020. Dr. Black recently completed her residency through the University of Kentucky Rural Family Medicine Program at SCH.
“Since starting my journey at SCH several years ago as a medical student, I have always felt at home,” said Dr. Black. “The people here capture the spirit of Eastern Kentucky in their warmth and selflessness, and they inspire me to be a better person and physician each day.”
In her free time, Dr. Black enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, caring for her rescue cats, going to thrift stores and flea markets, and collecting old video games and memorabilia with her husband.
