In recognition of November’s designation of National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month, avid racers gathered together to “trot for a cause” during Morehead’s 13th Annual Turkey Trot, a 5K race through the city to raise awareness for those who are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
“We are so grateful to all of our sponsors, donors, and participants who supported this year’s Turkey Trot 5K,” said Megan Littleton, event committee chair. “The proceeds from this year’s race will help provide support to patients who are presently living with this disease and their caregivers.”
In this year’s race, over 300 racers participated and $10,000 was contributed to the UK St. Claire (SCH) Foundation Alzheimer’s & Dementia Care Fund.
“The Turkey Trot is a wonderful way for our community to rally together and raise awareness for a disease that affects so many individuals each year,” said Donald H. Lloyd, II, SCH President/CEO. “The funding directed to the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Care Fund will provide much-needed support to family members and loved ones serving as caregivers. These individuals go out of their way to help those who are fighting this terrible disease and they need support as well.”
