UK St. Claire is honored to receive the Kentucky Hospital Association’s (KHA) annual Grassroots Advocacy Leadership Award. KHA first introduced this award in 2021, and SCH has been extremely grateful to be its recipient for all three years.
Over the past several years, Kentucky communities have faced multiple obstacles such as natural disasters and fires that diminished community resources. SCH has partnered with local leaders to help the communities it serves by providing exceptional healthcare and fulfilling other basic needs for the people of Eastern Kentucky.
Through the collaborative efforts of SCH and local leaders, accessibility to medical care has increased through the creation of new clinics, including the new Urgent Care Clinic in Morehead, and a Primary Care Clinic in West Liberty, which will begin construction in the near future. Additionally, partnerships with local agencies, such as the Elliott County Christian Community Center and Bath County Christian Social Services are allowing SCH to extend its healing ministry to help meet the basic needs of the people they serve, such as food and clothing.
“It is such an amazing honor to be recognized, yet again, with the KHA’s Grassroots Advocacy Leadership Award,” said Donald H. Lloyd, II, President/CEO of SCH. “From its inception 60 years ago, St. Claire has always worked with the leaders of our communities to provide the best in care to the people of Eastern Kentucky. Today, we continue to work with leaders, and through that work, we will do great things in the future.”
The KHA was established in 1929 and is dedicated to improving and sustaining the health status of the people of Kentucky. It uses VoterVoice to allow its members to contact state and federal legislators and share their hospital’s stories. Each year, the KHA uses the data from this software to honor a hospital or health system for its advocacy efforts.
