Torrie Furman, RN, BSN, FNP, Joins St. Claire HealthCare Urology

St. Claire HealthCare is proud to welcome Torrie Furman, RN, BSN, FNP, to its medical staff. Furman will join O. Thomas Newcomb, III, MD, and O. Thomas Newcomb IV, MD, on SCH’s urology team.

“I believe that urology chose me,” said Furman. “When I started in family practice 12 years ago, I learned that I would also be working with urology patients. I started learning a lot about urology and it has since opened a lot of opportunities for me.”

Urologic care focuses on issues that affect the bladder and kidneys. The team at SCH urology often treats many types of urological problems, including kidney stones, painful urination, blood in urine, or urine urgency, among many other conditions and diseases, as well as helping infertility concerns.

“Urology can be a challenge sometimes because people aren’t proactive when it comes to screening and prevention,“ she said. “Male and female patients live with urinary incontinence and they don’t realize that the urology clinic has new ways to improve or possibly alleviate bladder leaking. Patients need to know that they don’t have to live that way.”

Furman, a native of Morehead, received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Morehead State University in 2008. She went on to obtain her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner from Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing in 2011.

“St. Claire is a great facility that provides excellent healthcare in a rural setting,” she said. “Dr. Louise Caudill devoted her life to public service at St. Claire and now it is my time to give back to the community. I am so proud to become part of this team with Dr. Newcomb III and Dr. Newcomb IV.”

Furman is now accepting new patients at the St. Claire Medical Pavilion at 245 Flemingsburg Rd. in Morehead. To schedule an appointment, please call 606.780.5500 or request an appointment online at www.st-claire.org/appointment
