Our volunteers come to us from all walks of life and include retirees, professionals, former patients, college students, and teenagers. They offer their time and energy in the service of others through a variety of roles. Whether greeting or directing guests, running errands, working in the UK St. Claire Gift Shop, or visiting with patients, our volunteers truly make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
Volunteer opportunities include clerical work, visiting and escorting patients or visitors within our facility, and many other opportunities within specific departments. General volunteers may commit to four or more hours a week or be "on-call" for special projects.
Our hospice and home health volunteers make friendly visits and phone calls, sit with and read to patients, assist with errands, grocery shopping, and more.
UK St. Claire has a quaint Gift Shop with basic necessities and a wide array of gift items. Volunteers assist customers, ensure the shop is well stocked, and make deliveries to our patients.
Family and friends who are waiting on a loved one who is in surgery or the ER, are often very anxious. Our Waiting Room Volunteers can serve as a liaison between the medical team and the family to provide comfort to those waiting.
Organizations or groups are encouraged to inquire about special projects, which may involve off-site work by calling the volunteer office at 606-783-7793 or emailing ashley.traylor@st-claire.org.
